No You Do Not
We accept self-referrals, agency referrals, NDIS referrals for Improved daily living under Capacity Building Supports. You can access services via a mental health care plan, however, at this stage we are not able to provide medicare rebates.
1. A phone call with the therapist is required prior to making a booking. A free 15 minute phone or in person consultation is provided to discuss your needs and services able to be provided. Call, text, or email to book this free consultation. During the call we will book an initial Intake and Assessment appointment.
2. Complete the on-line Intake Form and submit prior to your first appointment.
3. At the Intake and Assessment appointment further appointments (or block of appointments) can be arranged
4. If you are accessing Play Therapy services, during our Intake and Assessment appointment (adult/s only) we will book a complimentary meet and greet with your child. This meet and greet can be on-line or via face-time or a visit to the play therapy room if you are attending in clinic. This is to support children's transition into their first therapy session.
In general we recommend ten counselling sessions to begin with but on many occasions more are appropriate. At C2T we believe that people can take an active role in determining how many sessions are needed, depending on your goals and level of distress. While we'll make recommendations, you are ultimately in control for your therapeutic process.
The length of the play therapy process varies in every case. Some children may improve much faster and take an average 15-20 sessions, while more serious or ongoing problems may take longer time to resolve such as 30 or more.
This is quite individual and is determined by the goals discussed in the Intake and Assessment appointment. For children, evidence demonstrates that weekly sessions are required for best outcomes. For adults, factors such as the complexity of the issue, time constraints, financial considerations, etc. determine the duration and timing of the counselling. All these matters are discussed as a component of the therapy.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you are not able to make your session. This will minimise any cost inconvenience to you and the therapist. If less than 48 hours notice is provided, there will be late cancellation costs.
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the social work profession in Australia, governed by various laws, ethical codes, and professional standards. Here are the key provisions regarding confidentiality for social workers in Australia:
1. Privacy Laws: Social workers in Australia are required to adhere to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), which regulate the handling of personal information by organisations and individuals. These laws set out requirements for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information, including client information.
2. Professional Codes of Ethics: Social workers are bound by the ethical guidelines and standards established by professional bodies such as the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). The AASW Code of Ethics emphasizes the importance of confidentiality and the obligation of social workers to protect clients' privacy.
3. Informed Consent: Social workers must obtain informed consent from clients before providing services. This includes explaining the limits of confidentiality, such as situations where confidentiality may need to be breached (e.g., if there is a risk of harm to the client or others).
4. Exceptions to Confidentiality: While confidentiality is generally maintained, there are circumstances where social workers may be required to breach confidentiality, such as when there is a serious risk of harm to the client or others, or when disclosure is mandated by law (e.g., reporting child abuse). Social workers are required to inform clients about these exceptions as part of the informed consent process.
5. Record Keeping: Social workers are typically required to keep accurate and secure records of their interactions with clients. These records should be kept confidential and only accessed by authorized personnel. Clients have the right to access their own records in accordance with privacy laws.
6. Supervision and Consultation: Social workers often engage in supervision or consultation with colleagues or supervisors as part of their professional practice. Discussions in supervision should maintain client confidentiality, and social workers must take steps to protect clients' privacy when seeking advice or guidance from colleagues.
7. Technology and Communication: Social workers must take precautions to ensure the confidentiality of electronic communication with clients, such as using secure platforms for emails or tele therapy sessions.
8. Cross-Cultural Considerations: Social workers need to be sensitive to the cultural backgrounds of their clients and how this may impact perceptions of confidentiality and privacy. They should discuss these issues openly with clients and adapt their practices accordingly.
Overall, confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of social work practice in Australia, and social workers have a legal and ethical duty to safeguard the privacy of their clients while also fulfilling their obligations to protect individuals from harm.
A standard session is 50 minutes for adolescents and adults and 45 minutes (or shorter depending on child's developmental capacity) for Play Therapy. By arrangement and depending on availability, a person may negotiate a longer session at any time. This would be discussed prior to appointment.
For some EMDR sessions, 90 minutes is recommended initially and costs calculated accordingly and discussed on individual bases.
Please be in contact to discuss further.
